Topic 1: Health Promotion

One of the identified health issues in my community is hypertension. Hypertension is a condition in which one has high blood pressure. Discussed in this post are the three health promotion levels through which hypertension can be prevented or managed.

To begin with, the primary prevention of hypertension entails adhering to healthy lifestyles such as eating a variety of foods rich in potassium, fiber, and protein and lower in salt (sodium) and saturated fat; keeping a healthy weight; and increasing one’s physical activity level with the Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans recommending that adults should consider getting at least 2 hours and 30 minutes of moderate-intensity exercise……

Topic 2 Poverty and Community

I live in Hillsborough County, FL, better known as the Tampa Bay area. According to Census.gov, as of July 2021, we were already getting extremely close to 1.5 million people in this county alone.

What is the poverty level in your community? One of the Healthy People 2030 objectives is to reduce the proportion of people living in poverty.
