Purpose

The purpose of this assignment is to provide the student an opportunity to reflect on the weekly concepts learned in the course.

Activity Learning Outcomes

Through this assignment, the student will demonstrate the ability to:

  • Demonstrate logical and creative thinking in the analysis and application of a theory to nursing practice. (PO 2 and 5)
  • Apply nursing theory as a framework to guide the development of new knowledge and implementation of evidence-based practice in future professional settings. (PO 1 and 4)
  • Examine broad theoretical concepts as foundational to advanced nursing practice roles. (PO 1 and 2)
  • Analyze theories from nursing and relevant fields with respect to the components, relationship among the components, and application to advanced nursing practice. (PO 1)

Assignment should be submitted to the Week 8 Reflection on Learning Weeks 1-8 dropbox in the Reflect area of Week 8 by Saturday 11:59 p.m. MST at the end of Week 8.

The course ends on Saturday of Week 8. There is no late submission allowed for this assignment.

Week 1

The most important concept I learned in week one is the importance of nursing theory. Is there a need to learn theory when I can execute it practically? I believe that when it comes to nursing theory, most nurses fail to acknowledge the importance of nursing theory, I included. Based on the research I conducted, I found out that theory plays a critical role in assisting nurses to not only understand their patients, but also their needs.
