As we approach the 220th birthday of one of the 19th century nurses I would like to reflect on Dorothea Dix, born April 4th, 1802 a nurse who advocated for mental health. As referenced by (Strickler & Farmer, 2019), although she was never trained as a nurse she was known for her involvement in preparing the future of mental health nursing.
